Minutes of Annual Meeting
Camp Wa-Klo, Dublin, N.H.
August 6, 1983
The 23rd Annual Meeting of the Thorndike Pond Conservation Association was held at Camp Wa-Klo on Saturday, August 6, 1983 at 11:00 A.M. There were 55 members present.
The minutes of the 1982 Annual Meeting were read and approved. The Treasurer reported a balance of $298.32 in the checking account and $1,084.59 in the savings account. A complete report is attached. Dues were set at $25.00 per year. Please remit to Treasurer at Gilson Road, Jaffrey 03452.
Merrill Hill reported on the dam. All seems well. There is some seepage on the sides but this is a natural phenomenon. Merrill was presented with a scroll in appreciation of his dam tending and maintenance of the dam. The verse on the scroll was composed by Jane Ernst and presented by Priscilla Hurlin.
The following new members were announced; Mr. Jaime Alazraki, Dr. and Mrs. Gary Asher, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schulte, Mr. Paul Starrett and Mr. Charles Weiner. Mr. and Mrs. Schulte and Mr. Starrett were present.
Ray Kruse gave the water report and presented new charts which show graphically the results over the years of Chemserve's testing. Bob Chamberlain had a report from the State which confirmed the good results we had from our testing.
The Association entered a float in the Jaffrey Jubilee parade on July 23rd. It was entitled "The Year of the Mosquito". It won second prize in its division. Ray Kruse presented the huge trophy from the town to Priscilla Hurlin who, with Maggie Orr, designed the float. John Hubbard was the mosquito.
Bill Jackson, for the Nominating Committee, presented the following slate:

· Secretary /Treasurer, Deborah Kruse
· Directors:
o Dave Murray
o Walter Rowlands
Harley Burger and Ed Lobacki have one more year to serve as Directors. The slate was accepted as presented.
Beverly Poulin volunteered their home for next year's meeting to be held later in the day, followed by a cook-out.
Fannie Hillsmith would like the water lowered later in the season. This was discussed and it was felt that most summer people close up on October 12th weekend and like the water low by then to clear their beaches. Marie Jensen reported much seepage away from the dam and build-up of sand and mud at the base of the dam. Much discussion followed. The Board of Directors will investigate having the build-up of sand and mud removed.
President Russell thanked Camp Wa-Klo for hosting the meeting and all the people who brought food for the delicious, lunch that followed the meeting.
